One Day in San Jose, Costa Rica

DAY 1: SAN JOSE

Day one is always travel day, although we would spend the majority of our trip in the La Fortuna / Arenal area of Costa Rica (which is about a 3 hour drive from the capital of San Jose), we were excited to be in the country’s capital for a quick visit.

Flight: American Airlines MIA – SJO
We flew in to SJO Airport and spent a rainy afternoon in the country’s capital.

HERE’S WHAT WE DID:

Because we found tickets at a really great price, we decided to purchase our tickets using our AAdvantage Card (earning us double points, some cards can earn you triple points for airfare), and using our banked points to pay for our hotels instead.

Driving in Costa Rica isn’t difficult. We took a shuttle from the airport to Adobe Car Rental and followed Waze everywhere we went, ie to our hotel, for a little sightseeing and dinner in San Jose, and then onto day 2 to the Arenal Volcano!

Car Rental: Adobe Rent A Car. They aren’t located inside the airport, but the shuttle was fast and they had the most competitive rates when we booked.

Hotel: Park Inn by Radisson San Jose
